They Only Loved Me After I Died

Evelyn, terminally ill with leukemia, overhears she is her parents’ biological daughter while Cecilia is adopted. They lied, favored Cecilia, and sent Evelyn to fake biological parents who abuse her. She dies in a sheep pen. Only then do her parents learn the truth. They go bankrupt; her mother goes mad, her father becomes a laborer, and Cecilia dies in a hit-and-run. At Evelyn’s grave, they beg forgiveness. Her ghost refuses: “In the next life, let’s not meet again.”
